               Ford               Fusion               Hybrid
               Mother               Earth               News               chose               the               five-passenger               Ford               Fusion               Hybrid               sedan               as               being               the               top               among               a               list               of               top               10               green               cars.

Consumer               Reports               chosen               the               Ford               Fusion               Hybrid               for               its               American               Top               Picks:               Green               Car               Category,               and               it               won               the               Motor               Trend               Car               of               the               Year.

Coming               in               at               34               mpg               in               Consumer               Report               testing,               they               referred               to               the               vehicle               as               "enjoyable               to               drive."               Mother               Earth               News               notes               it               is               capable               of               running               up               to               47               mpg               just               on               electric               power.

    In               the               ever               expanding               universe               of               "green"               automobiles               it               appears               that               in               the               quest               to               save               the               planet               we               have               utterly               and               totally               lost               our               sense               of               style.

    Not               to               name               names               but               there               are               just               some               alternative-energy               vehicles               out               there               who               take               their               uniqueness               as               an               excuse               to               be               visually               heinous.

    Not               so               in               the               case               of               the               all               new               Audi               A3               TDI               diesel               five-door               hatchback,               however.

    Handsomely               styled               inside               and               out               with               a               decidedly               European               flavor,               the               A3               TDI               is               the               green               car               of               choice               for               the               hipster               fashionista.

    To               verify               its               hipster/environmental               cred               just               know               that               the               A3               TDI               was               named               the               "Best               Green               Car"               at               the               most               recent               (celebrity               packed)               Los               Angeles               International               Auto               Show.
                   Starting               at               $27,270,               the               Audi               A3               TDI               is               inexpensive               considering               how               luxurious               it               is               and               how               advanced               the               clean-diesel               engine               truly               is.

    Audi               is               the               only               car               manufacturer               that               has               been               able               to               pass               the               extremely               rigorous               California               Air               Resources               Board               Smog               Standards               without               resorting               to               urea               injection               technology.

    Yes,               if               you               are               wondering               urea               is               one               of               the               active               ingredients               in               urine.

    Can               you               say               "road               trip               car?"               While               the               A3               TDI               has               a               reasonably               low               base               price               you               can               go               crazy               with               the               options               and               send               it               near               onto               $40,000.

    There               are               a               few               options,               however,               that               really               improve               on               the               livability               of               the               A3               TDI               and               that               is               important               as               diesel               engines               are               capable               of               some               pretty               epic               mileages               without               mechanical               difficulty.

    So               you               may               have               this               car               a               while.
                   First               off,               if               you               want               your               A3               TDI               to               really               look               bad-ass               you               have               to               order               the               Titanium               Appearance               Package.

    This               includes               sport               seats,               sport               suspension,               titanium               color               alloy               wheels               on               larger               tires,               tremdu               piano               black               trim               for               the               interior,               black               headliner               and               blacked               out               grille.

    If               that               is               a               bit               too               out               there               for               your               tastes               be               sure               to               order               the               "Convenience               Package"               with               the               updated               Bose               audio               system               and               various               goodies               like               automatic               headlights               and               windshield               washers.
                   Among               the               nice               to               have               but               not               essential               options               are               in               dash               navigation               (buy               a               Garmin               instead),               an               "open               sky"               sunroof               which               gives               the               A3               TDI               a               uniquely               airy               feel               and               finally               for               the               more               formal               German               car               buyer-burl               walnut               trim               inlays               to               replace               the               aluminum               metal               that               accents               the               dashboard               and               doors               on               standard               models.
                   But               even               if               you               just               buy               an               A3               TDI               with               no               options               you               are               still               left               with               a               very               spacious,               efficient               and               utilitarian               hatchback               that               is               a               hoot               to               drive.

    That               is               the               beauty               of               the               Audi               A3               TDI-there               are               infinite               ways               to               truly               make               this               green,               fuel               efficient               wonder               a               very               personal               style               statement.
